To felt sweaters:
Go to a local thrift store and start going through the sweater racks. Look for anything that's 100% wool, lambswool or cashmere. Once home with your new/old sweaters, throw them into the wash on the HOTTEST cycle you have then dry them on the hottest cycle. Repeat until they are the size of a child's sweater or if they were children's sweaters, keep going until they would fit a doll! You want the fibers so think and matted that it feels like felt. That's the goal right?
Now you're ready to make something fun with it!
We cut hearts out (free handed, so they are all unique), pressed a grommet into one side, added a colorful ball-chain and we called it a "warm and fuzzy backpack dangle!
Everyone will get them in their Valentin's mailbox at the class party! The girls even "Bedazzled" some of them! I think I might stitch an initial into each one, to make them special!
They feel so fun to play with. My kids are so tactile! Aren't yours? Who doesn't love to fiddle with something fuzzy!?!?
xoxoxo,
Cindy
